Fitchburg Man Assaulted, Dies from Wounds

 FITCHBURG A 26-year-old man, who was found bleeding on the back porch of 68 Marshall St. yesterday at about 2 p.m., has died from his wounds, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Luis Rodriguez was transported to Leominster Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. He had been assaulted in his home, a third floor apartment at 82 Marshall St. He fled the attack, coming to rest on his neighbor’s porch.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted the case and will perform an autopsy.

There have been no arrests in the case.

State Police Detectives assigned to Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Fitchburg Police detectives are investigating. No other information will be released at this time.

College Officer Hurt in Shooting Accident

HOLDEN — An Assumption College police officer was injured Thursday morning in an accidental shooting at a training program that was conducted adjacent to the Holden Police Department, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Assumption Deputy Chief Keith S. Hough, 55, received a bullet wound to his right foot when his gun fired as he was returning it to its holster. He was transported to the University Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester where he was in good condition.

Hough was participating in live-fire police training provided by Blue Line Corp., a private vendor. The State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s office are investigating.
